Volunteer or work with MC2
MC2 welcomes contractors and volunteers in all facets of its programming. Our contractors are typically classroom teachers and graduate students, and we get volunteers from all walks of life. Â We welcome all volunteer inquiries, and provide training, workshops and coaching to support those chosen for these positions.
If you'd like to work or volunteer for the Math Circles of Chicago, take the first step and fill out our inquiry form.
Volunteers and contractors are needed to assist in school and citywide festival programming. We need volunteers to act as 'Table Leads', running a single math activity as part of a large event that typically runs 1 to 2 hours. In addition, we pay 'Math Festival Liaisons' to co-coordinate entire festivals with other MC2 staff and with onsite colleagues. MC2 provides the activity materials and instructions — Table Leads only need to prepare to share a single activity and then bring themselves to an event. Liaisons receive training, become familiar with all festival activities, and deliver materials.
A mix of graduate students, classroom teachers, and community members with strong math backgrounds volunteer to judge at QED. They can also volunteer or be paid to mentor children preparing for QED, helping them identify research questions and carrying out a research plan. Â In addition, community members can volunteer to assist with logistics on the day of the symposium. Apply today!
Volunteers and contractors lead and assist math circles at all of our Hubs. MC2 provides activity plans for all sessions and teachers are required to participate in our teaching community through workshops and online reflections. High School students can also be paid to assist in Math Circles. Interested students should join our College Pathways program.
Whether you’re a seasoned educator or stepping into the classroom for the first time, MC2 has a place for you. If you’re passionate about teaching and eager to grow, we’ll provide the tools, support, and community to help you succeed.
