Math Circles of Chicago Online Speaker Series

MC2 College Pathways seeks to inspire high school students to discover their mathematical power through advanced math circles, opportunities to grow as educators with our teaching assistant program, and to help our students share their love of learning math in community with others. This last goal - to get our talented, kind, and curious students participating in math spaces all across the country and world - has been most challenging to realize, and most rewarding to conceive.

Last spring, a student at IMSA reached out to propose an idea that would allow for students who couldn’t regularly participate in our in-person math circles to learn about our opportunities in research and exploring advanced mathematics. Together, we helped build a series of talks including speakers from many excellent math programs outside of Math Circles of Chicago. Our hope is that students will learn to participate in both math circles, as well as different advanced math pedagogies.

We hope that our community of mathematicians - students, teachers, parents, and more - will enjoy the opportunity to learn about an interesting math topic and math program online this fall.

All sessions are scheduled for 7pm Central Time. Please sign up for the series using this Google Form, and we will invite you to the events via Google Calendar!

Students who would normally receive a paid participation bonus can earn one through attending these sessions.
