9/12: Math Circles of Chicago Day at Wrigley Field!

August 16, 2025

On Friday September 12th the Chicago Cubs are hosting K-5th graders to do some math at Wrigley Field! The flyer above gives information about how a school can sign up and get grouped game tickets--parents, if you are interested please share the flyer with your child's school. Participating children will do some math with MC2 staff in the late morning and then will watch the Cubs play the Tampa Bay Rays that afternoon.

Typically, a class or several classrooms of students will sign up from a school. If a school takes buses to the event parking will be free--Cubs staff will give instruction there.

We expect students to arrive around 10:30AM so they have time to enter the staidum and head up to the 2nd level where all students will sit together. Jessica Young-Eleazar and Doug O'Roark from Math Circles of Chicago will give a 40 minute interactive presentation using the big screens in the park with a whole lot of math and a fair amount of baseball mixed in--because the sport of baseball is a great place to learn math! Every participating student will also get a special commemorative booklet for the event that has several math activities with a baseball theme.

Students can bring their own lunch or buy food at the ballpark. The game starts at 1:20PM so they'll have plenty of time to eat and find their ticketed seats before the game begins. We're expecting a big turn out--hope to see you there. Play ball!
